In October the Roslyn Fire Company participates in Fire Prevention Month by hosting an open house with instructional excercises aimed at informing the community of what we do and allowing visitors to participate in evolutions that get the community involved in fire safety.
The Roslyn Fire Company is always looking for ways to interact with the people we serve. The following is just a sample of the many events the Company participates in throughout the year.
Christmas Tree Sales
Each Holiday Season, the members of Station 500 organize and run a Christmas Tree Sale. Proceeds from this fundraiser help to purchase equipment and pay for incidentals around the Firehouse. From food for the Firefighters after a Fire Event to the acquisition of a potentially life-saving Thermal Imaging Camera, the Holiday Tree Sale benefits the Company and the Community.
Memorial Day / July 4th Parades
Ever wonder how the American Flags lining Easton Rd. every Memorial Day and 4th of July magically appear and disappear? That’s right. Members of Station 500 place 3 dozen US flags along the main road through Roslyn. The Company also participates in the Roslyn Parade as well as Parades in neighboring communities.
Car Washes / Charity Fundraisers
The Roslyn Fire Company happily provides its Parking Lot, by request, as a site for fundraising activities, such as Car Washes, to local Organizations.
Pre-Night Out
“Pre-Night Out” is Abington Township’s community block party to rally for National Night Out. This outdoor party boasts local entertainment, music, food, giveaways, and information booths. Roslyn Fire Company attends with a piece of apparatus to put on display and gives kids and adults the chance to see the inside of a fire truck as well as try on real firefighter gear and ask any questions they might have.
